Great care has been taken to showcase Tasmania. The size and location of the property enable privacy and tranquility with easy access to the wonderful natural locations in Freycinet National Park. Aplite House is very unique, in that while staying guests can enjoy the level of privacy that can only be offered from a large property. While at the property it feels as if all is far away, when in actual fact the activities and locations the beautiful Freycinet region offers are all within easy reach. The 200 acre property Aplite House is built on shares three boundaries with the Freycinet National Park, this property is very rare in that it is literally within one of Tasmania's first National Parks. Guests have the entire space to themselves. The unique privacy Aplite House offers is made possible from the large property. Guests self check in at Aplite House. Aplite House is located on Tasmania's East Coast midway along the Freycinet Peninsula at Friendly Beaches, between the seaside towns of Coles Bay and Bicheno. Friendly Beaches are secluded, pristine and stunning, they're within Freycinet National Park and approx 8 km long. This is a quieter area of the National Park and really is awe inspiring. Its about a 10 min drive from the house to Friendly Beaches car parks and around a 20 min drive to Coles Bay or Bicheno. The Wineglass Bay walking trail car park is around a 30 min drive Aplite House is a very private home base and is well positioned for exploring Tasmania's East Coast. The best way to get around on the Freycinet Peninsula is to drive. Although to see some of the most spectacular landscape features of the region a bit of hiking can be required. Even if it's a gentle stroll along Friendly Beaches, or a hike into Sleepy Bay, Wineglass Bay or Hazards Beach, it's worthwhile bringing some comfortable walking shoes. If hiking isn't for you, or you want a rest from it, there's a few relaxing cellar doors to visit and local cuisine to sample along the way. Alternatively, if seeing the landscape from the water is for you there's some great tour options, Bicheno Glass bottom boat, Wineglass Bay Cruises, Freycinet Adventures and the Freycinet Aqua Taxi to name a few. Or if from the air appeals, Freycinet Air do spectacular scenic flights.

We are family friendly, we ask that you provide your own porta cots and highchairs for your children. Please advise if bringing children. Lakeview Cottage is in quiet position overlooking a private lake with sunset views, birdlife & wildlife which surround the cottage and neighbouring properties. Upon entry to the Cottage you find yourself in the den/library with floor to ceiling bookshelves featuring numerous books relating to health, wildlife, gardening and more, for your enjoyment in on of the many areas of the cottage! You then flow through to the charming open plan, high ceiling living area with wood burner for those chilly winter evenings. Fold out single sofa bed for extra guests provided - extra charges apply). Beautiful rustic kitchen features tea & coffee making facilities and cooking condiments (olive oil, salt and pepper). The living space features a comfortable chaise lounge, fireplace, radio & TV. The bedroom features a comfy queen size bed, built in wardrobe, luggage rack & Smart TV. (Linen is provided for 2 guests - please add linen to your booking if you require the fold out couch/bed.) ***When booking for 1/2 guests - one bed will be made up - please let us know immediately if you require alternate bedding configurations.*** It provides both indoor and outdoor sitting and eating areas. The cottage is on tank water and septic system and is fully self contained. The cottage has a carport attached to the side with access through the bathroom if the weather is unfavourable. Otherwise access is either through the front entrance, or lake facing sliding door. We will be there to check you in and welcome you to the property. I will then leave you to your stay, but we are only a phone call away if you require assistance. Quiet road and peaceful rural area. The Cottage is on the same property as two other dwellings - one is another cottage and the other is a hand weaving studio that produces quality alpaca wool scarves and throws - check it out whilst you are here! Please note the cottage boundaries - the lake is out of bounds for guests, you may enjoy the view but please do not (or let your dog) venture past the newly planted semi circle boundary - private residence next door only has access to the area beyond this growing hedge line. PETS Your pet is welcome at our property as well as it is well behaved, toilet trained and quiet - pets cannot be left unattended at the property unless you bring your crate and your pet is crate trained and comfy. Pets are not allowed on beds or the couch - extra cleaning charges will apply if it is found that your pet has been on these items. There are doggy bags provided so no excuses to leave your doggy doo lying around - please keep it clean! (Charges for clean up will be applied.) Any damages to the flooring including scratches to the wooden flooring will be sought for compensation upon quote which could range from $600-$2000 depending on damage - we ask that if bringing a pet, that their nails are not able to scratch the flooring so your liability for this is not high. If your dog is not friendly, you will be asked to leave immediately and will not receive a refund on your trip. If you choose to bring your own fold out beds/porta cots, please note that the feet of beds cannot scratch the flooring (must have felt or such to protect the wooden floors) or you will be liable for damages. Any damage to the property will be charged to you accordingly. The property is on tank water and septic system for sewerage - meaning you cannot put anything down the toilet apart from human waste & toilet paper. All food scraps must be wiped out of dishes with no food, fats or oils to go down the drains. Any cancellations due to Covid will require proof of a positive PCR test, RAT tests will not be accepted.

we love this because... Bass Vista allows us to escape from the world! We LOVE the location for its quiet solitude and our most favourite thing to do is to sit on the balcony and take in the most magnificent 180 degree views of the waters of Bass Strait and Gunnamatta Beach while sipping on a cocktail. Our children love the garden and its huge trampoline where they can play in the secure fenced garden. They flit in and out of their own lounge downstairs and watch some TV when they want to mix things up. There are so many places to walk and wonder at the native flora and fauna (walk the Bushrangers Bay track in the late afternoon for an encounter with a Kangaroo as they leap from the lower ground to the upper right across your path). From the Cape Schanck lighthouse car park, there is a network of scenic walks and 200 metres east of Cape Schanck is the lookout where Bushrangers Bay Walk commences along the cliff tops of this untouched coastline. Along Main Creek is the Two Bay Walking Track stretching 26km through the countryside of the Mornington Peninsula. For all things food, we head to the village of FLINDERS a short drive away and especially Pier Provedore. Here we grab coffee and provisions for dinner at home. For a special evening, we head to the RACV Cape Schanck Resort where we grab a cocktail in the bar lounge and then eat at either Cape Restaurant or Samphire to complete our luxury escape. PAWfect What fun! a new house to visit that lets four-legged friends like me sleep inside. Yay! a garden with tall fences to keep me safe. Love the trees and bushes, there are lots of interesting smells. Are those possums in the trees? And there's a special basket just for me. No way! What's in there? Ooh, ooh! a treat from PAWDINKUM. I LOVE THIS PLACE.

As this is a self contained town house the guests have private access to everything. We give our guests total privacy however can be at the property within 5 minutes of the guest have any issues. Quiet residential neighbourhood but literally less than 200 meters walk to the river, clubs and downtown cafe/restaurants. Also please note this property is located in the flat area of Yamba so you will not have to hike up or down a hill to get to the main part of town! Walking is the best option for getting around this area. Also there is a bike path a which runs along the river literally a couple of hundred meters from the property

Just look out for the "FREE tram zone" signs. No problems hitching a cab or getting on a bus on A'Beckett or Elizabeth St if you would like to head out of the city. If you plan to take a train, the Melbourne Central railway station is just a 5min walk away from us. If you drive, the nearest paid parking lot is available at “58 Franklin Street Melbourne VIC 3000” just a 3 min walk away from us. Alternatively you may look online for other suitable parking options. If you just need to park your car temporarily for an hour or so, then you may observe the paid street parking signs around us. There are plenty of activities around Scamander such as surfing, kayaking, swimming, fishing and skateboarding at the skate park and there is a nice walking track off from Dune Street along the beach towards south. A short drive up the road to the famous St Helens Mountain Bike Network. There is no public transport in Scamander. A local taxi service is available with limited hours.
