Normally, the former Ikuno Mine staff dormitory (Koushataku ) is a tour facility, including the administration building on the premises. There are 5 buildings, of which building 7 is an actor from Ikuno who is indispensable for Akira Kurosawa's work. It is a memorial hall where Takashi Shimura (1905-1982)'s movie appearance records and relics are exhibited. Accommodation is available in buildings 9 and 19, both of which are nostalgic buildings from the Meiji era. Guests can enjoy the life and culture of the mining town while remembering the past. Building No. 9 mainly displays nostalgic daily necessities from the early Showa period to the '30s of the Showa period. It also features a traditionally styled kettle bath that can't be seen in modern homes. Please experience it. Parking is available next to the property. Ikuno Station is 1.2km away and is within walking distance. There's a supermarket and convenience store available too. You can experience scenery that evokes memories of the past, such as the mine trolley road along the Ichikawa river. Rental bicycles and cycling support is also available for exploring the rest of Asago and further into Ikuno Town. The property is operated in collaboration with the Ikuno Town autonomous council to support efforts for regional revitalization. The purpose is to develop a special and authentic Japanese countryside experience in the silver mining town of Ikuno. Guests can freely and leisurely explore Ikuno town and its Silver Mining history. Discover the rest of which Asago City has to offer such as the Takeda Castle ruins which is a sight to behold during "unkai" the sea of clouds. In addition, the area retains a vast amount of nature and over 1200 years of history, including some interesting French influences from the industrialization period. Free parking is available for guests with a car. Most sites within the town center are accessible on foot. however, for guests who would like to explore beyond the town or delve deeper into nature and other special sites, we can arrange rental bicycles, tours, etc. Brochures and additional information will be offered on-site as well.
