Hidden Gem sea facing, relaxed and open planned rondaval (cottage) in a tranquil, natural, rustic setting that you would expect from the Transkei. There is a private BBQ area, offering you some of the best ocean views the Transkei has to offer. Take a short walk down the hill to spend the day fishing, snorkeling or surfing at the many secret bays. Or a longer +- 7km hike to the Hole in the Wall or simply relax, have a braai and enjoy the amazing views while watching the splashes of dolphins or whales. Tranquil, rustic setting with amazing views and the best sunrise, just out of town on the well maintained main road between Hole in The Wall and Coffee Bay. You will find a lovely seafacing open planned rondaval (cottage) where you can sip your morning coffee on the deck or braai at the BBQ area. You will have an ensuite bathroom and a well equipped self catering kitchen, perfect for small families or a group of traveling friends or hikers. Don't forget to arrange what time you would like your (free) breakfast! Vegans, plant based and vegetarians are catered for with a variety of meals including our free breakfast. Free Wi-fi is available in your cottage with a backup UPS and we have solar charging options available with supplied loadshedding lights. You have as much space and privacy as you require or we can pay extra attention and spoil you if you so choose. Some of the extras we can arrange are beach picnics, romantic hill top picnics, hikes, sundowners and surf lessons. Meals available on request, most ingredients are organic and fresh from veggie garden or locally sourced. A daily cooked breakfast is free. We are located +-2kms outside Coffee Bay, on a lovely quite homestead and we are only about 6 minutes walking distance from one of the most idyllic beaches in Southern Africa. The environment here is untouched and natural, true to the Wild Coast, we have a beautiful natural forest bordering the property which is a big bonus for all the bird lovers. Coffee Bay is a small rustic village surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and is immersed in rich Xhosa Culture. The world-famous Hole In The Wall site is a 9km drive & a 7km hike from where we are situated, the Mapuzi caves are within 5 kms. Although our cottage is fully connected for electricity and it's on 90% of the time, we are situated in the Transkie, the WILD Coast, and with the stunning natural, rural lifestyle comes the small cost of old and outdated infrastructure, there will be times when the electricity is out but every care is taken to ensure you will have gas to cook on and lights. Our water is supplied by the sky, rain, and during the winter months rain is very scarce so we ask our guests to use water wisely and sparingly.

The Kings House has the most spectacular views in Coffee Bay, it is a traditional, thatched A-frame house, with a lounge area, self-catering kitchenette, bathroom (shower, basin and toilet). A rustic cottage with 2 small bedrooms, each with a double bed, bedside lights and plugs. Above the two rooms is a low open-plan mezzanine, with an additional double bed and two single beds. There is a small deck out front with a braai area and outside seating. Perfect for a group of friends or a family The office is open from 7am -10pm daily and there is always a manager on duty outside office hours. Coffee Bay is still very much a traditional rural village, very detached from the daily hussle and bussle. The closest well stocked shop is at Ngcwanguba, 20km from Coffee Bay. There are basic shops in Coffee Bay to buy bread, milk and dry goods. There is no ATM in Coffee Bay, but you will find cows on the beach, traditional ceremonies and lots of untouched open space. Known as the Wild Coast, you will see it lives up to its name as you take a walk along some of the most scenic beaches and coastlines in the world Coffee Bay is 80km off the N2, take the exit approx 20km south of Mthatha. The road from the N2 is sealed, however it is best to arrive during daylight hours as there are potholes and stray animals to deal with. Coffee Shack runs a daily shuttle to the Shell Ultra City near Mthatha, where the Baz Bus and mainline buses drop off. Contact the office to arrange a pick-up.
